VINTAGE ISRAELI DANCING is now in its 21st year!
Our purpose is to keep as many 20th Century Israeli Dances alive as possible! There's usually no teaching; we just get together to dance.
- WE DO A MAJORITY OF ISRAELI DANCES REQUESTED, as long as they were choreographed in the 20th Century (before 2001), no matter how often they were or are done anywhere else. If you want to dance them, we don't care where they were or are popular. We do not have a preset playlist, and your request might be done surprisingly soon! We vary much of the program each month, and requests for dances not done in the previous few months have priority.
- We start at 8:16 PM with about an hour of easy nonpartner dances, followed by alternating sets of three or four partner dances and seven nonpartner dances until our midnight closing.
- If you only want to do nonpartner dances, want to do a lot of easy dances, or haven't done Israeli Dancing in a long time, arrive as close to 8:16 as possible! If you want to do some unusual nonpartner dances, stay after 10:30!
- Non-requested dances remain about evenly split between 1948-1969, the '70's, and the '80's.
- The dances done in the first hour are easy enough for anyone with any Israeli Dance experience to follow. Those who are too young to have learned our dances when they were new are always welcome at Vintage! Also, throughout the rest of the evening, we include some relatively easy dances. However, you probably have to have some Israeli Dance experience to enjoy our nights.
